Naturist and Inevitable Erections
How do naturist handle male erections when they inevitably arise?
Anyone who has lived the naturist lifestyle quickly understands that men frequently develop erections entirely spontaneously. It is as much a fact of life as it is for the sun to rise.
Nudist resorts and venues all address this issue, routinely telling men preemptively that when the issue arises, they should place a towel over their genitals to conceal themselves.
If erections are so routine and so commonplace among men, why is hiding this natural body effect such a big deal among nudists and naturists? Living as a naturist, I have been around countless numbers of men, and all of them have developed naturally occurring erections at different times. In a naturist family, erections are a natural part of life for all males.
At home, we welcome our guests to be comfortable. If they desire to undress and be naked, they are free to do so. We have small hand towels beside our front door on a shelf for people to sit on. Guests who are more comfortable remaining clothed are never made to feel uncomfortable or unwelcome; it is all about personal preference and freedom. When a male guest develops an erection, he is welcome to leave it uncovered. Most men do, but a few instinctively pull a towel over themselves.
As a female, I have never been shocked or offended by an erect man. His erection is not viewed with sexual implications, nor does it lead to intimate interaction unless that is the desired outcome of the situation. As a female, my nipples become enlarged and erect for many different reasons. The ambient temperature of my surroundings can cause my nipples to become stiff, but other times, there is no apparent reason; it is just a bodily response to unknown stimuli. But my nipples also get hard during sexual arousal. I have never been asked to conceal or cover my nipples when they get hard, nor have my nipples ever been seen as being obscene, like a man’s penis when it becomes erect at a nudist venue. Is this a double standard?
I recently began quietly observing and noting the frequency and surroundings of spontaneous male erections while home, observing my husband and a very close male friend to determine any correlations of what causes or why a man develops an erection when there is no sexual stimulus. I made my observations during a three-day weekend camping trip, during which all three of us were naked for the entire duration. For reference, my husband is 61 years old, and our male friend is 33 years old. Neither of the guys knew I was keeping notes or tracking their erectile activity. There was no sexual activity, and their erections were random.
Both men woke up each morning with a solid erection.
Erections occurred randomly regardless of activity, such as sitting outside, around a campfire, on the sofa, watching television, eating a meal, or taking a nap.
Our friend had more frequent erections that were fuller and more rigid than my husband's.
Husband averaged 13 erections daily from wake up until bed.
Friend averaged 17 erections daily from waking up until sleep.
One observation that I did not expect to find was when one of the guys would develop an erection while we were sitting on the couch during the evening watching television or talking, the other would also become erect. It is probably some level of human survival trait built into their DNA that occurs unconsciously without realization.
So, as a naturist, should erections be concealed or hidden from sight? I would love to hear others’ ideas and comments on this subject.
Thanks and an interesting and thought provoking article. I have always been of the view that erections were a normal part of a man’s life. I can see some say well you would say that you are a man
So it was interesting to read your point of view as a woman. Your comparison was interesting, one I had never considered but a very well made point.
This is a great article. Interestingly, I have been a nudist since 1992, and the only erections I've ever seen in a nudist venue were from a boy who appeared to be 11 or 12, and an occasional man at a beach who was purposely masturbating. I was 32 when I had my first nudist experiences, and I did get a partial erection at the worst possible time--playing tennis with a young boy. I didn't get an erection when I was a nude art model when I was in college.
I am 65 now, and I don't get erect unless I am sexually aroused. I don't even get an erection when I'm mildly aroused. At an event this past summer, a beautiful young woman did some sort of sexy stretching right in front of me, oblivious to the fact that I was standing right there. I didn't get an erection.
I'm not surprised about your young friend, but your husband's a rock star!
